What are the signs of a respiratory infection?

A respiratory infection occurs when a bacterial or viral infection takes hold anywhere in your respiratory system. When infections develop in the lungs, nasal passages, throat, or other parts of your respiratory system, you can experience symptoms such as:

  • Cough
  • Hoarseness
  • Runny nose
  • Sore throat
  • Tiredness
  • Headaches
  • Muscle aches
  • Wheezing
  • Fever

While these symptoms often signify a respiratory infection, you can also experience these troublesome symptoms with other conditions. Some symptoms may require emergent evaluation at your nearest emergency department.

If you’re experiencing uncomfortable symptoms, you need treatment as soon as possible. Treatment can shorten the duration of your symptoms and greatly decrease their intensity. Please note some conditions may not be suitable for evaluation via telehealth visit.

What are some types of respiratory infections?

Common types of respiratory infections include:

  • Common cold and flu
  • COVID-19
  • Sinusitis
  • Bronchitis
  • Pneumonia

The team at Redicare Mobile Health Service wants you to feel better soon and can help you find the best treatment approach for your condition.

How does treatment for a respiratory infection work?

At Redicare Mobile Health Service, treatment comes to you. There are two ways to get respiratory care, including:

Telehealth visit

In a telehealth visit, you get an email or text message prompting you to complete the patient registration process before your visit. You get a link, which you click 15 minutes before your scheduled appointment time. Then, you see your medical provider virtually.

Home visit

In a home visit, you complete your patient registration forms before the appointment. You receive a two-hour window of time in which your provider arrives at your location for your visit.

If you need lab testing, your provider can collect the necessary samples during a home visit. During a virtual visit, they can submit lab orders, allowing you to visit the lab nearest you for testing at your convenience.

Similarly, if you require medical imaging, like a chest X-ray, you receive a radiology order either in person or electronically so you can schedule your imaging study there.

Based on the results of your visit, you may receive a prescription, such as antibiotics. Redicare Mobile Health Service transmits the prescription to your pharmacy electronically, and you can pick it up at a time that works for you.

Untreated respiratory conditions can be quite serious if ignored. Redicare Mobile Health Service allows you to get treatment and start recovery right away.

How can I prevent a respiratory infection?

It’s impossible to avoid getting sick sometimes, but there are steps you can take to reduce your risk of developing a respiratory illness. Keep your hands clean and disinfect bathrooms, kitchens, and other high-touch surfaces.
