What is wound care?

Wound care involves treatment of cuts, scrapes, and other injuries. While some mild, surface-level lacerations heal naturally, others might need some help to encourage healing and prevent infection.

Redicare Mobile Health Service offers wound care using advanced techniques beyond over-the-counter antibiotic cream and adhesive bandages.

When might I need wound care?

At Redicare Mobile Health Service, the experienced medical care providers treat the following types of wounds:

  • Minor lacerations
  • Minor cuts
  • Minor skin scrapes
  • Abscesses
  • Minor animal bites
  • Nail injuries

While the team at Redicare Mobile Health Service can treat many types of wounds, severe injuries like a deep wound exposing multiple layers of skin or bone requires emergency room (ER) care.

What can I expect during my wound care appointment?

Wound care is tailored to your specific needs. Because wounds require hands-on care, wound care appointments are in-person appointments in your home rather than telehealth visits with Redicare Mobile Health Service.

Before your home visit, you receive an email or text message with a link to complete your patient paperwork. Redicare Mobile Health Service gives you a two-hour window, in which you can expect your provider to arrive at your home or another location of your choice.

Your provider evaluates your wound and performs wound care procedures such as a simple laceration repair, incision and drainage of abscesses, suture removal, and bandaging.

In some cases, you might need a prescription, for instance, an oral antibiotic to fight infection in your wound. Redicare Mobile Health Service immediately sends your prescription to your local pharmacy so you can pick it up at your convenience.

Your provider gives you detailed aftercare instructions so you can take good care of your wound following your wound care appointment. They may recommend scheduling a follow-up appointment in the next week or so to check on your condition and ensure your wound heals properly. You can schedule a checkup with your provider either through the mobile or telehealth service.

If you have an abscess, laceration, or other wound needing prompt care, call Redicare Mobile Health Service or book an appointment online today.
